Disclaimer
Effective Date: June 23, 2026
Tootie’s Backyard shares wildlife information, outdoor activities, nature stories, educational resources, and family-friendly ideas.
We do our best to provide careful, useful information. Nature does not always follow the field guide, the plan, or the weather app.
Please read this page before relying on site information.
Educational Information Only
Tootie’s Backyard provides general educational information. It does not provide professional medical, veterinary, legal, emergency, wildlife rehabilitation, pest-control, or safety advice.
For emergencies, contact the appropriate local emergency service, wildlife agency, poison center, veterinarian, doctor, land manager, or licensed professional.
Wildlife Identification
Wildlife identification can be tricky. Animals change color, age, molt, hide, move fast, and occasionally look like something else just to keep things interesting.
Do not rely on a website alone to identify a venomous animal, poisonous plant, dangerous fungus, sick animal, or emergency wildlife situation.
Keep your distance from unfamiliar wildlife. Do not touch animals, nests, eggs, droppings, bones, feathers, or unknown plants without appropriate knowledge and permission.
Outdoor Activity Safety
Adults should review every activity before children begin.
Outdoor activities may involve risks from weather, heat, lightning, insects, ticks, snakes, sharp objects, water, traffic, uneven ground, allergies, and other hazards.
Use common sense, proper supervision, safe tools, and local rules. Stop an activity if conditions become unsafe.
Do not send children outside alone to explore water, roads, woods, vacant lots, drainage areas, construction areas, or unfamiliar property.
Health and Allergy Disclaimer
Some activities involve plants, soil, pollen, insects, mud, leaves, seeds, food items, or outdoor materials that may cause allergies, bites, stings, irritation, or illness.
Check for allergies and health concerns before beginning an activity. Wash hands after outdoor play. Use appropriate sun protection, insect protection, hydration, and clothing.
Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation
Do not use Tootie’s Backyard as a substitute for a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, veterinarian, or wildlife agency.
If you find an injured, orphaned, trapped, or sick wild animal, contact a qualified local professional. Do not assume an animal needs help just because it is alone, young, quiet, or sitting in an awkward-looking spot.
Product and Affiliate Disclaimer
Some pages may mention tools, books, cameras, outdoor supplies, or other products. These mentions reflect editorial opinions and may include affiliate links.
An affiliate link may earn Tootie’s Backyard a commission if someone makes a purchase. We will disclose affiliate relationships clearly.
Product availability, quality, safety, and prices can change. Check the manufacturer’s instructions and current product details before buying or using anything.
External Links
We may link to outside websites and resources. We do not control those sites and cannot guarantee that their information remains accurate, complete, safe, or available.
No Warranties
Tootie’s Backyard provides site content “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that every page will always be complete, current, error-free, or available.
We correct mistakes when we find them. Nature education has a long history of looking closer, then admitting the first answer had mud on it.
