Accessibility Statement

Tootie’s Backyard wants children, families, teachers, wildlife watchers, and curious people of all abilities to be able to use the site.
We work to make the site easier to read, hear, navigate, understand, and use with different devices and assistive technology.
Our Accessibility Goal
We aim to improve accessibility as we build and update Tootie’s Backyard.
We use accessibility guidance as a working standard, including clear headings, readable text, keyboard-friendly navigation, helpful link text, image descriptions where possible, and color choices that do not carry meaning by themselves.
A site this large can collect a few loose screws. When we find one, we want to fix it.
What We Are Working On
Accessibility work may include:
- Clear page titles and heading order
- Keyboard navigation
- Visible focus states
- Readable color contrast
- Image alt text
- Captions or transcripts for video and audio when available
- Descriptive links and buttons
- Forms with clear labels
- Pages that work on phones, tablets, and desktop computers
- Fewer motion-heavy or distracting elements
- Better structure for screen-reader users
Known Limitations
Some older pages, games, downloadable files, third-party embeds, maps, photo collections, and interactive activities may not yet meet the same accessibility standard as newer pages.
We are improving those areas as we revise the site. We do not want anyone stranded on a broken button like a squirrel halfway up a bird feeder.

We will make a good-faith effort to provide the information in another way or fix the barrier when possible.
