Goldie’s Web Watch

Go outside with a grown-up in the morning or late afternoon, when sunlight may make spiderwebs easier to see. Look between shrubs, tall plants, fence corners, or creekside branches. Do not touch the webs. Draw one you find, or draw where you think a spider could safely build one. Add the branches that hold it up, the open space where flying insects might pass, and a safe path for people and pets to walk around it. Think About It: What helps a spiderweb stay useful: strong branches, open air, nearby insects, or all three? Grandma’s reminder: “Goldie does not need anybody to clean up her web. She built it exactly where she wanted it.”
