Mabel’s Shell Sketch

With a grown-up, look at a picture of a map, a leaf with veins, or a safe turtle photo. Notice how lines can curve, split, and travel across a surface. Draw Mabel’s shell. Fill it with winding pale lines that look like a tiny creek map. Add a log, water plants, and one snail nearby. Think About It: What other things in nature have lines that look a little like maps? Grandma’s reminder: “Mabel does not need directions. She is already wearing a whole map on her back.”
